Throughout his thirty-plus years as a trial attorney in the Kansas City area, Jack T. Bangert has provided clients with superior representation in all facets of litigation. His practice includes products liability, toxic torts, trucking, commercial litigation and insurance coverage. Jack concentrates his practice on complex litigation and cases involving serious personal injury or death. Recently, Jack has expanded his practice and is acting as a certified mediator.

Jack’s work in trial and the local bar has been recognized by his peers. He was named Legal Leader of the Year by the Daily Record newspaper in 2004, the first year the award was available. He has been selected to “The Best of the Bar” in civil litigation by the Kansas City Business Journal each year since 2004. Additionally, he was recognized as a “Top 100 Super Lawyer” for Kansas and Missouri in both 2005 and 2006.

Jack has served the legal profession through his leadership in local and national organizations. He is a former President of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (MODL) and has been recognize for his career service to MODL with the Ben Ely, Jr. award. He is active in the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) where he is on the Advocacy, Practice and Procedure Committee and the Drug and Medical Device Committee. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is a past President of the Kansas City Claims Association. He is also a past member of the Executive Committee of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) and has served as its legal advisor. In the KCMBA, Jack’s involvement included being the Chair of the Insurance Law Committee and President of the Young Lawyers Section. He recently served as President of the Board of Directors of Legal Aid of Western Missouri and was instrumental in leading its Justice For All Campaign. Jack has also served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation. Jack continues to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Law Foundation at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he has held the positions of President and Treasurer. His commitment was recognized when he received the President’s Award for outstanding service to the School of Law.

Jack is also committed to teaching students and young lawyers. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy at UMKC. He has served as a coach of the UMKC Moot Trial Team and was honored as the coach of one of the top ten trial teams in the country in ATLA’s national Moot Trial Team Competition in 1995. Jack has been privileged to teach at the Missouri Judicial Trial Academy, Missouri Bar Trial Academy, the MODL Trial Academy, and the IADC Trial Academy.

Jack received his B.A. degree from Westminster College (1973). He earned his J.D. degree (with distinction) from the University of Missouri at Kansas City (1976). He has remained active with both institutions. He recently received the Alumni Achievement Award from Westminster College recognizing decades of commitment to the school.
